What is COP 30?
The 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will take place from November 10–21, 2025, in Belém, Brazil. This conference will serve as a unique platform for climate discussions, strategically positioned in the heart of the Amazon, a region crucial to global climate stability. A key focus of COP30 will be the Amazon region, given its essential role in global climate regulation and biodiversity conservation. Recognizing this importance, COP30 will serve as a platform for nations to strengthen their climate pledges, align policies with ambitious emission reduction targets, and drive action toward sustainable development. Brazil, as the host nation, is committed to multilateral cooperation, fostering global consensus on emission reduction targets, and advancing policies that support sustainable development and biodiversity conservation. Building on previous agreements, COP30 will be a key moment for countries to present updated national climate action plans, due in early 2025. These commitments will play a crucial role in ensuring the world stays on track to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels while advancing the SDGs.
