In June 2006, The Climate Project (TCP) began in Nashville, Tennessee. As a non-profit organization, its mission was to increase public awareness of the climate crisis at a grass roots level in the US and abroad. By April 2007, a growing group of 1000 volunteers from every corner of the USA was trained to present a version of the slide show as seen in the Academy Award-winning film, An Inconvenient Truth.

The Climate Reality Project Indonesia, a branch of The Climate Reality Project, supports the work of more than 1000 climate leaders in Indonesia that come from diverse backgrounds and include business leaders, professionals, educators, athletes, musicians, scientists, actors, students and religious leaders.
